The National Institute for the Visually Handicapped (NIEPVD ) is at the forefront of championing the cause of the visually impaired, through concerted efforts that educate, rehabilitate and empower them. Working under the aegis of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, NIEPVD is dedicated to preserve and promote the rights and dignity of the visually disabled.
Year after year, the Institute churns out professionally qualified & trained personnel to provide best-in-class education, vocational training and rehabilitative services to the visually handicapped. In fact, NIEPVD is the largest producer & distributor of Braille literature and devices including speech books, in the country.
NIEPVD is also actively engaged in Research and Development for the formulation of disability-inclusive policies, programmes and practices. The Institute is known to have devised several tools and technologies that have enabled and ensured equal participation by visually impaired persons across the board.
